Assignment 2: Development Opportunities

A leader’s role changes in each of the four different stages of team formation: forming, storming, norming, and performing. Consider the key activities that you, as a leader, must perform to take your team through and beyond each stage. Use the Internet and the University online library resources to read the current academic literature on some real-life examples.

As a leader, you must make sure that your team functions efficiently and the socioemotional needs of your team members are met.

INSTRUCTIONS

For this assignment:

· Analyze how team functionality and socioemotional needs of the team influence your behavior and strategy as a coach and mentor.

· With these two responsibilities in mind, design professional development activities for both leaders and subordinates, with the goal of forming a collaborative, high-performance team.

· Research and investigate networking, use of technology, and other opportunities for professional development. Describe two such opportunities that would be appropriate and beneficial to enhance team cohesion and effectiveness as the team goes through the different stages of team formation.

Your analysis must include a plan for both conventional and global/virtual teams.

Your final product will be a 3- to 4-page Microsoft Word document (not including the title and reference pages). Utilize at least three scholarly sources. Your paper should be formatted per current APA standards; written in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
