CONGENITAL ANOMLIES & DYSMORPHOLOGY

Discussion forum

  • Define Dysmorphology
  • Compare and Contrast the terms major and minor anomalies

From text book: (major anomalies require medical or surgical attention, and can have life threatening implications ex cleft lip, heart defects, and cognitive impairment; minor anomalies donot have serious functional or cosmetic consequences and may or may not be surgically corrected – most dysmorphic features are classified as minor anomalies)

  • Identify one congenital anomaly and the syndrome/disease most associated with that anomaly (you are doing Angelman syndrome OR Down’s syndrome)
  • State one specific area of teaching that should be included in caring for this individual/family
