Nursing is a profession about health care that focuses on the wellbeing of the societies, individuals, and families so they can sustain, attain, or recover from health illness and issues to enhance healthy living. Thus, I chose to be a nurse to help and provide health services to the people due to the inadequate health care facilities in our society. More so, for seven years, I have worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant in the trauma unit in my community allows me to provide health services to the society. Therefore, this paper entails the reasons why I chose nursing as a profession.
I am from a poor background community, whereby many people suffer from illness. Also, health care is poor and inadequate to provide health services to sick people. Hence, I have always wanted to help and join the people who assist others live a healthy life. In school, I freely volunteered to help other students who had minor accidents and nosebleed, eventually became the leader of the Red Cross group in our school. The urge to provide help to people has always been in me; thus, after completing my nursing course, I join the trauma unit in our community as the Certified Nurse Assistant.
I grew with my grandparents, which has been difficult. They had insufficient income to cater for our needs, and I always wanted to be in a position to provide for my family. Eventually, I learned how to care and love the elderly, which has equipped me with experiences relating to nursing as a profession. I am confident, understanding, empathetic, and possess communication skills that every nurse needs to provide appropriate services to patients.
In conclusion, I think all nurses should be considered as heroes as they save the lives of patients every day. Therefore, it always takes self-will and determination to acquire this profession, and that why I chose to be a nurse.
