Community health nurses help in improving the health of the population by working in different setups such as the jails, businesses, and schools. They interact with the community they serve and create a strong bond. Community health nurses are responsible for creating awareness in the community through education programs (Murdaugh, Parsons, & Pender, 2018). The programs are designed as per the target audience and the education that will be relevant to them. Students, for example, may be taught sex education and the adults may be educated on a healthy diet. The nurses are also responsible for disease prevention as well as researching to find strategies that can be implemented for health improvement. Community health nurses also act as caregivers by providing education to pregnant mothers, providing prenatal care and giving advice on nutrition.

Public health nursing specialist helps in developing public policy related to health and assisting in disease prevention. The specialist also analyzes the trends in the population and aids in the implementation of effective intervention (Zaccagnini, & White, 2015). He/she also provides primary care to the vulnerable members of society. Both the two roles have similarities as well as differences. One of the similarity is that both serve the same demographics. One of the differences in the two roles is that a public health nurse takes care of the people who are unable to seek assistance or the vulnerable population while a clinical community health nurse takes care of the general population regardless of whether they are vulnerable or not.

A home care staff nurse is a registered and licensed nurse who take care of patients in their homes. After visiting the home of the patient he/she assesses the condition of the patient, identifies symptoms of the condition and administers the right prescription (Zaccagnini, & White, 2015). This role has become common in recent years due to lack of adequate hospitalized insurance covers. The nurse in this category works for eight to twelve hours and can be called if there is an emergency. A home care staff nurse falls under the category of public health nurse role because he/she deals with the vulnerable population.
