I agree that nurse practitioners and physician assistant be utilized because, by increasing their services will lead to high-quality care in the primary care unit, and many patients will be satisfied. Most of the doctors rely on nurse practitioners for the smooth delivery of services on their patients. they value most of the skills provided by the nurses and physician assistant. Nurses play a significant role in the primary care workforce(Buerhaus, and Donelan 2015). Through the nurse practitioners, patients will be provided with special care. Nurse’s practitioners and the physician assistants should be utilized because of the significant role they play in the medical care services, and since physician assistants and the nurse practitioners can do the same role and deliver in the same way despite differences in their training and philosophy, they can still provide better services to patients. Nurses have slowly won the right to practice on their own in various states; this is because they believe that they are capable of delivering services that the doctors usually do. Nurses and physician assistant help in reducing stress and responsibilities those doctors might be going through because most patients believe that the doctors have the final say.
If the government eliminates the statutes that limited the activities provided by the physician assistants there will be competition in the medical care services because the physician assistant would want to have their patients. The quality of medical services will go down since the level of education that the physician assistant have does not compare to the level of education of physicians (Grover, and Erikson 2016). Nurse’s practitioners and physician assistant undergo shorter training time in their studies; hence they receive less education. With less experience, the nurse practitioners may not be able to provide the patients with the right medical diagnosis.
Most of the health centers will decide to employ physician assistants who are ready to work for them at a lower price than hiring qualified physicians who are more expensive. This will lead to high competition between the two. This might be too risky to patients because some patients might be having a severe illness which could only be attended by a specialist.
